“Who took the chocolate?!” BPY students arrived at school to find a “crime scene” on Tuesday, Dec 20. Somebody took the PTO chocolate supply. After visiting the crime scene, students analyzed the evidence in various forensic labs, including powder, fingerprints, soil, footprint and bite prints. This simulating experience calls on students to experience first-hand the analysis of forensic scientists. BCIS Detective Ham visited students and shared her experience doing similar work. And the Bergen County K9 unit visited to show students how dogs are trained and utilized to help in crime scenes. CSI@BPY is part of the BPY Discovery Learning Day tradition, where students dive deep into a hands-on, inquiry based STEM experience, enriched by adult specialists in the field. The master sleuths enjoyed an amazing day!
