Cub Scouts Are on the Move

(Courtesy of Pack13) Into the woods with lions, tigers and bears! Just 10 miles from Teaneck lies the rustic Alpine Scout Camp. On the steep access path, I asked a fully laden Wolf Scout (second grade): “How can you carry everything up this long hill?” The reply: “I have determination!”

The Cub Scouts and parents enjoyed a hike, learning to follow trail blazes where GPS fears to tread. Meanwhile, the Bear Scouts (third graders), prepared dinner: Having set a $94 budget, they bought and grilled 50 hot dogs and corn, on kosher grates laid over charcoal and wood. Let a Bear proudly explain: “Some older brothers taught us how to build the fire, we started cooking, we started flipping, while everyone else was hiking.. and then we finished by bringing it out.”

The Lion & Tiger Scouts (K and first grade) sang a silly song; the Wolves told their corny jokes. As promised in last week’s article, every hand was covered with marshmallow.

Everyone’s invited to visit our next Pack Meeting: Sunday, November 4, at 4 p.m., at Ahavat Achim in Fair Lawn, just a 10-minute drive from Teaneck.
