Daughters of Israel Staff Join Winter Coat Drive

Dr. Joshua Schor, medical director at Daughters of Israel, and Eve Goldberg, director of the women’s league at Daughters of Israel, were instrumental in helping to ensure that those in need this season received warm winter coats. Goldberg, a Livingston resident, was closely following the Livingston Coat Drive story in the West Essex Tribune newspaper. Jeff Friedman, also known as “The Coat Guy,” is the founder and coordinator of this program, which distributes coats and other clothing items to those in need.

Eve decided to get in touch with Jeff to let him know that Dr. Schor was involved with an organization called Bridges Outreach, based in Summit, that makes multiple “runs” every month, providing clothing and food to people in NYC, Newark and Irvington. As a result, the Livingston Coat Drive recently delivered 133 winter coats to Bridges, an hour before a “run” took place, literally putting the coats in the hands of those who directly benefitted from the donation.

“I am fortunate to work at an institution such as Daughters of Israel that has like-minded people such as Eve Goldberg,” remarked Dr. Schor. “Eve is always quietly looking to do a good deed for ‘the next person’ less fortunate. I was merely the conduit from Jeff Friedman to Bridges, but yasher koach to Eve for bringing this to my attention!”
