In a heartfelt ceremony held at the Jerusalem headquarters of United Hatzalah, an emergency vehicle was unveiled in honor of the Dee family, who tragically lost three of their beloved members in a terrorist attack in April. The generous donation, made by Avi & Ilana Tobias from Edison, New Jersey, serves as a poignant tribute to Lucy Dee, 48, and her daughters Maia, 20, and Rina, 15, who were victims of a Hamas terrorist attack on Route 57 in the Jordan Valley.
At the unveiling ceremony, Rabbi Leo Dee, a surviving family member, took part in the touching tribute. The vehicle is inscribed with, “In loving memory of Lucy, Maia and Rina Dee, H”YD. May their life and memory endure as a blessing to their family and all of Am Yisrael. Am Yisrael Chai—Ilana and Avi Tobias.”
The vehicle also has a message from the late Lucy Dee: “What have I done for someone else? What has someone else done for me? What has G-d done for me?” These three questions serve as a constant reminder of the family’s values and the importance of kindness and gratitude.
The car is going to be driven by Dr. Yishai Ben Uri, a pediatrician and United Hatzalah volunteer. Dr. Ben Uri’s previous vehicle was destroyed, with advanced medical equipment, in an attack in Jerusalem in October 2022.
The donation of this vehicle stands as a testament to the enduring memory of the Dee family and their commitment to making a positive impact on their community. United Hatzalah extends its heartfelt gratitude to Avi & Ilana Tobias for his generosity and support, which will enhance their life-saving efforts in the region.
