Teaneck–Dr. David J. Katz, who specializes in restorative and general dentistry, with offices in both Teaneck and Forest Hills, is thrilled that Dr. Rebecca Block is joining the practice. “We have long awaited the arrival of my daughter, Dr. Block, who will assist with expanding our hours in Teaneck,” said Katz. The name of the practice will be changed to reflect Dr. Block’s status as a partner.
In the past, Katz has been able to work only two to two and a half days a week and for emergencies in Teaneck, as he is also head of oral diagnosis at New York Hospital and also an associate clinical professor at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. Block will be the fifth dentist in the Forest Hills practice but only the second in Teaneck, which is at present a much smaller practice. However, the Teaneck location will now be open five days a week. “We have in the past had to turn away patients, but now Dr. Block will be able to have the most impact there and help grow the practice,” Katz said.
Block grew up in Teaneck. She attended the Moriah and Frisch schools, MMY in Israel, Stern College for Women, where she graduated with honors, and the Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, where she was one of the top graduates. She recently completed a general practice residency (GPR) at Hackensack University Medical Center. She prides herself on working well with children, and is certified and trained to work with Invisalign, invisible braces for adults. She also works hard to stay up to date on the latest techniques and materials.
Katz explained that what is unique about his dental office is that he does both general practice and restorative dentistry. “We do comprehensive care that involves multi-specialty work, such as bridge work, root canals, orthodontics, periodontics, and also general work. We work all these modalities at the same time, for the convenience of the patient,” he said.
Katz takes pride in that he always treats the patients as human beings and not just mouths. But he is most proud of having built two offices with a long-serving supporting staff that share his values and vision. “Each and every one is a star and I am honored to be associated with them in our practice,” Katz said.
All the staff members in the Teaneck office are also members of the Jewish community who live in the neighborhood. The office is at 583 Winthrop Road in the West Englewood neighborhood of Teaneck.
