The Old Library Theatre in Bergen County, NJ presents a semi-staged reading of Shlemiel Crooks, based on the books Shlemiel Crooks and Chicken Bone Man by Anna Olswanger, on Sunday, April 17, at 2 p.m.
Shlemiel Crooks is a whimsical, warmhearted family musical about the importance of family loyalty and the need to follow your dreams. Narrated by Jerry, the dog, the play features Jerry and his boy, Berl, who stop the ghost of Pharaoh and a couple of dim-witted crooks from ruining Passover.
The script is by Sean Hartley and Bob Kolsby, music by Scott Ethier, lyrics by Clay Zambo and additional music and lyrics by Berl Olswanger. It is directed by Linda Wielkotz, with musical direction by Evan T. Charpentier.
