I like to play sports. My friends don’t love sports so l can’t play with them. Sometimes the boys are nice enough to let me play. I love playing sports though so I would love for you to help me figure this out.

Dear Sporty Sarah,

It’s hard when your friends don’t share your interests. You should look to increase your friend circle to include kids that share different things in common with you. Not everyone shares all your interests and that’s ok. One way to meet kids who like sports, or any hobby you like, is to go where kids are participating in that activity you enjoy. For example, try to sign up for sports at camp or school sports clubs and practice sports at recess or in the gym. School is less than two months away and then you should have more opportunities to meet kids. However, sometimes people will let you play, sometimes they won’t. You can’t force people to let you play, but you can tell a counselor or teacher to help facilitate. Don’t worry too much about this though. Once school starts, recess is only 15 minutes.
