Dear Shayna B.,
My family and I read your column every Friday night and always love it. I love to draw and animate and want to make other kids happy with my art, but don’t have anywhere to put my drawings cause I’m just a kid. What should I do?
Sincerely,
Sad Simcha (Age 10)
Dear Sad Simcha,
Don’t be down, you are so lucky to have this ability. There are so many options to display your artwork, you just have to get started. You can show off your work at school. An example of this would be to make slideshows for your class to watch. If you want to branch out, you can consider illustrating a book. You are creative and can do this. If you’re worried about finding an author, you be the author! It’s not that complicated. All you have to do is have a story in your mind and convert it to words on a page. If you’re worried about age, people write books at very young ages. The world’s youngest author is only 7! In addition to illustrating a book, you can submit your art to different publications, such as online magazines. One magazine I have submitted my writings to in the past is Cricket magazine. It is great and accepts art, stories and poetry from people of varied ages starting from 7. I’m sure there are LOTS of other sites that would like your artwork, you just have to do a little research. Sad Simcha, it’s time for you to turn that frown upside down. Bring joy to everyone’s day with your artwork starting with your own!
Best of luck,
Shayna B.
