I read the article “TikTok: It’s Not Just Social Media and It’s Not Just for Kids” (January 23, 2026) with growing dismay. The Modern Orthodox community has been working so hard to encourage kids and adults to stay off social media and TikTok in particular, with school and shul-based programs. We know the dangers of TikTok, including foreign involvement and a very insidious algorithm,which can lead people down a rabbit hole of trouble.

I understand that social media platforms can have benefits along with their drawbacks, and the article did include a warning to parents, but the whole positive spin the article was professing makes me concerned that those of us who are on the side of less social media are fighting a losing battle.
