Yariv and Kati Moyal were fixtures in the Bergen County community, the proud owners of Rabica, the popular dairy restaurant on West Englewood Ave., when they decided to make aliyah. A few years later, the family experienced a terrible tragedy when their 14-year-old daughter, Avishag, suffered a stroke due to an aggressive allergic reaction combined with an asthma attack, leaving her with significant brain injuries. Avishag—a beautiful, gentle and courageous girl—can now no longer walk or see. Her motoric and expressive abilities have regressed to that of a toddler. Avishag spent more than a year as a full-time resident at the Tel Hashomer Rehabilitation Center, and is now back home with her parents and three siblings. She still attends daily treatment and training at the Asuta Health Center in Ashdod, where she and her family live.
Avishag’s condition entails an unimaginable responsibility for her parents, and their lives have changed dramatically. For the year that Avishag was in rehab full time, Yariv or Kati would rotate staying over at the hospital. For over a year, every week, one of them stayed at the hospital while the other managed the home and the rest of the children. As a result of this tragedy, both Yariv and Kati had to quit their jobs and are now in need of our help. Friends have initiated a GoFundMe campaign on their behalf after hearing that the family is in significant financial difficulty. Help them reach their goal to help Yariv, Kati and the kids as they deal with this incredibly difficult situation. Tizku l’mitzvot!
