Don’t Pick Sides. Pick Both: Tamar and Yitz for Assembly

In what is shaping up to be a pivotal race for the future of New Jersey, voters in District 37 are fortunate to have not one, but two exceptional candidates running for State Assembly: Tamar Warburg and Yitz Stern.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside both of them through the Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee and can personally attest to their commitment, integrity and deep-rooted care for our community.

Tamar Warburg is a powerhouse of professionalism and purpose. As general counsel for the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ, she helps manage the legal and financial needs of a foundation with more than $600 million in assets. Beyond her legal expertise, Tamar has been a leading voice in organizing the Jewish community in the wake of rising antisemitism, helping bring more Orthodox participation into local politics. Her campaign centers on making New Jersey more affordable, expanding access to childcare, and supporting nonprofit and community-based organizations. She would be the first Orthodox woman elected to the New Jersey legislature and her voice would be an important one in Trenton.

Yitz Stern brings decades of public service to the table. A former deputy mayor and longtime councilman in Teaneck, he currently serves as fiscal officer in the Bergen County Department of Public Safety. He has also been a key voice on statewide Jewish issues, having served on the New Jersey State Commission on Holocaust Education and the New Jersey Israel Commission. Yitz’s campaign focuses on housing, infrastructure and fair school funding, issues that directly impact our families every day. His record of collaboration and results has earned him the trust and endorsement of several past and present Teaneck mayors.

In recent weeks, I’ve been disheartened to see some in our community treating this race as if they need to choose one candidate over the other. That could not be further from the truth.

Everyone gets two votes for Assembly. We are lucky that both of our options are not just qualified, they are exceptional. I see firsthand how hard Tamar and Yitz work. They show up, they listen, and they genuinely want to serve. Our community deserves representatives who bring both compassion and competence to the Statehouse. Tamar and Yitz represent that balance.

So I urge voters to rise above the noise of campaign rhetoric and focus on the bigger picture. This election is not about choosing sides. It is about choosing strength, character and leadership.

Please note: New Jersey has a closed primary system. This means that only voters registered with the Democratic or Republican parties can vote in their respective primaries. If you are an unaffiliated voter, you may declare a party affiliation at your polling place on Election Day or during early voting to participate in the primary.

Make sure you are registered by May 20 to vote, otherwise you won’t be able to. Go to www.bcjac.org/vote  to sign up.

Both Tamar Warburg and Yitz Stern have my full endorsement, and I strongly encourage you to vote for both of them in the upcoming Democratic primary.

Let’s send the best of our community to Trenton. Vote Tamar. Vote Yitz.
