Dear Shayna B.,
I love your column and I read it every week! It always helps me get through my problems by reading your advice.
I have been lactose intolerant since third grade and it’s really hard for me when my friends eat dairy and I can’t have it. I know I’m really lucky that all I’m allergic to is dairy, but sometimes it’s really hard and I can’t help feeling jealous. Any advice?
Signed,

Dear Longing for Lactose Laura,
Many people come to me with problems like this. Some people have lactose intolerance and some have food allergies. If you think lactose will taste good to you then you’re wrong. You want to know why? I’ll tell you. It’s like when you see a bird eat a worm. The bird looks delighted, but you on the other hand think to yourself that it looks terrible. Even though the bird likes worms you don’t and you can’t. My point is lactose, the worm, might be yummy to your friends, the birds, but you know better! Next time you see your friends happily having pizza remember to tell them to enjoy their worm food!
Best of luck,
Shayna B.
