Dr. Miriam Singer was recently honored upon her retirement. A lifelong educator, as were her mother and grandmother. Singer began her teaching career at the Rabbi Alexander S. Gross Hebrew Academy in Miami after graduating from Michigan State University. Upon moving back north she taught at the Torah Academy in Philadelphia. She later taught at Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva (RPRY), enduring a commute of nearly 100 feet from her home to the school. She then served as English studies principal at the Yeshiva Ketana of Manhattan.
Upon completing her doctorate at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey she joined the faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she served as acting dean of the Peter Samartino School of Education. She recently retired after over 20 years at FDU. She was honored on Feb. 1 at the FDU-Long Island University basketball game. (FDU beat LIU 87-74.)
