(Courtesy of Drisha Institute) The Drisha Institute for Jewish Education opened the doors of its Yeshiva in Rosh Tzurim in August 2018, offering full-time, advanced learning to women. It has succeeded in creating a close community of advanced learners who deepen their dedication to Torah and mitzvot together.

The mission of the yeshiva is to enable women to achieve the highest levels of Torah learning by fostering their development as talmidot chachamot and cultivating intellectual, religious and personal depth. In the fall of 2021, the yeshiva will welcome North Americans to its first-ever shana alef cohort.

Yeshivat Drisha is led by talented and highly respected Torah scholars, Rosh Yeshiva Hanna Godinger (Dreyfuss) and Assistant Rosh Yeshiva Rabbanit Yael Shimoni. Previously, Rabbanit Hanna served as head of the beit midrash at Midreshet Lindenbaum and was the rabbanit beit sefer of Pelech Girls High School in Jerusalem. Rabbanit Yael is a graduate of Midreshet Lindenbaum’s halachic leadership program and has taught in Pelech and Migdal Oz. They are joined by a skilled team of scholars and educators who teach in the yeshiva, support the students’ intellectual and religious growth, and guide independent learning.

The yeshiva’s curriculum focuses on Talmud and classical commentators. Students study Talmud in depth (iyun) five sessions a week as well as engaging in bekiut learning several times a week with more advanced study partners. In addition, classes are offered in Tanach, Halacha, machshava and Aggada. There is a weekly shiur kelali (lecture to the entire yeshiva) delivered by the roshei yeshiva as well as some of Israel’s leading Torah scholars. Several times during the year, afternoons are spent in a Tanach intensive led by Drisha founder and director Rabbi David Silber. All courses of study include significant periods of independent learning in preparation for classes.
