On Saturday night, December 14, the DRS Wildcats hosted the Frisch Cougars. The Cougars, 5-3 at the time, came into the game looking to snap their two-game losing streak. The Wildcats, coming off a big win against the HAFTR Hawks, capping off their third straight win looked to extend it to four.
In the first quarter, DRS came out strong, scoring two straight buckets, however, Frisch was able to answer scoring some buckets of their own keeping themselves in the game. The quarter slowed down quickly as both teams buckled down on defense. In the last few minutes of the quarter, DRS was able to pull ahead and went on a run led by Zack Brown, taking a 15-8 lead.
In the second quarter, the game continued with scoring back and forth. The Wildcats found their offense and took an 11 point lead mid-quarter, but the Cougars were resilient and came back to cut the lead to five. The first half ended with DRS on top, leading 27-22.
The second half started with a deep three by Jojo Velenski, starting what would be a never-ending run by the Wildcats. Their defense played a big factor, as well, allowing only two points in the whole third quarter.
DRS never looked back from their run as they continued to pour the points on. Their defense continued to be nothing short of unbelievable as they only let up six points in the fourth and only eight total second-half points. The DRS bench kept the momentum going as they scored a bunch of points of their own. The game ended with DRS winning 59-30.
Ezra Sicklick and Zack Brown were the nights leading scorers having 18 each. Jojo Velenski added 10 of his own, and helped locked Frisch down on the defensive end as well. DRS extends their win streak to four improving to 7-3 on the season. They play divisional rival Shaarei Torah on Tuesday. Frisch drops to 5-4 as their losing streak hits three, they look to bounce right back at SAR on Tuesday.
