Earth Day At Yavneh Academy

Earth Day was a rich and exciting unit of study in first grade at Yavneh Academy, filled with song and environmental study. The students read wonderful literature about loving and respecting Mother Earth and treasuring her resources. They studied the many ways to reduce our garbage, reuse things or give them to others to use again; they were taught what it means to recycle trash. The students are now making an effort to turn off lights that are not needed, to shut the faucet while they brush their teeth, and to reuse paper on both sides. To top off their studies, the students engineered and created amazingly artistic ‘Trash Art.’ The display included boats, shelves, tanks, binoculars many more creations. Yavneh’s students are certainly on the road to becoming leaders in conserving the earth’s resources.
