Do you have a simcha coming up? Get ideas and vendor contacts while sampling fleishig refreshments from Eighth Day Caterers at The Simcha Expo, taking place at the Teaneck Jewish Center on Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. Fun novelties like ice cream from Eighth Day’s new (pareve) soft-serve ice cream machine, popcorn and sno-cones will be on hand to keep the kids happy.
If you haven’t been to the Teaneck Jewish Center in a while, you’re about to see it in a whole new light. New up-lighting for simchas will be on display, which streams a pillar of light from floor to ceiling, adding a glow to the room. Dovid Lisker, owner of Eighth Day Caterers, exclusive caterer at the Teaneck Jewish Center, said he will include up-lighting free of charge to anyone who books a simcha at Sunday’s event.
Lisker said the Simcha Expo will give people an opportunity to see The Teaneck Jewish Center as an excellent venue choice for their simcha and meet a variety of vendors in one place on one afternoon. Participants will include Shimi Golombeck, musician; Yossi Neuman, one-man band; Kruter Photography; Debby Levy, Inflated Creations; the Schnitzel Brothers, entertainers; Yossi Rosenthal, Magnets and Memory Booth; and Julie Farkas, Personalization Gifts.
Eighth Day Caterers began 16 years ago doing brissim and gradually turned to full-service dairy catering. Six years ago, Eighth Day added fleishig capabilities and now provides full-service and drop-off catering for events throughout the tristate area. Lisker gives clients sample menus as a starting point but his chefs customize to meet all tastes and budgets. “I started Eighth Day to give people an affordable simcha, with good food at good prices,” he said.
