They say choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life. Elie Tanous, owner of Elie Tanous Salon, couldn’t agree more. Located at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, the salon recently celebrated its second anniversary, an accomplishment Tanous is quite proud of.

“When I first started the business many people warned me it wouldn’t last more than three months,” he said. “Two years later, we have a staff of 23 stylists and a dedicated client following.”

Since opening, the salon has expanded its menu to include skin care, waxing and make-up services. Tanous and his expert staff aim to provide exceptional customer service to each client, making sure they experience the results they are looking for in a comfortable and pampering environment that includes wine and refreshments, all certified kosher.

Tanous is a veteran in the industry, recently named a Kerastase Ambassador for the East Coast, an honor he was both humbled and proud to accept. Tanous has also received specialty certifications from Vidal Sassoon, L’Oreal and Wella.

Tanous attributes much of his success to the community who he says believed in him and supported him these last two years. “My dedicated clients made me who I am today, a top New Jersey salon,” said Tanous. Their unwavering commitment helped facilitate this dream and for that he is eternally grateful.

Tanous has many clients who have also become his friends. “I have been invited to numerous Shabbos meals and bar mitzvahs,” he said, relishing his honorary Jewish status.
