(Courtesy of Adath Israel) On Rosh Chodesh Kislev and Thanksgiving morning, over 40 parents and children came together at Congregation Adath Israel for davening, a special hot breakfast and an exciting learning program. Rav Jonathan Schwartz gave an introduction and provided self-guided learning materials analyzing the laws of Ona’ah, overcharging, and how it applies to fancy doughnuts that cost more than $9 apiece. The topic was fascinating and captured the interest of attendees of all ages. The program was a great way to whet people’s appetite for not only the upcoming Chanukah holiday but for that afternoon’s Thanksgiving turkeys as well.
