Elizabeth’s Hermann Kaiser Receives Lev Tov Award From Shaare Zedek Hospital

Hermann Kaiser, long-time supporter of Shaare Zedek, was honored with the Lev Tov Award at the recent Heart of Jerusalem dinner.

Kaiser emigrated with his parents and brother from Germany to the United States in 1941. The family settled in Utica, New York, where Hermann received his BA in accounting from Syracuse University followed by an MA from Wharton. He married Hannah Meyer, and the couple joined the Elizabeth community because Kaiser was employed as an accountant in nearby Clark.

Kaiser became involved with the Shaare Zedek Annual Concert through Hannah, z”l, whose connection to Shaare Zedek dated back to Germany, where her father knew Dr. Moshe Wallach, the first director-general of the hospital. That support grew as the Kaisers visited Shaare Zedek’s original building on Rechov Jaffo in 1969 and then again in 1972. In 1999 they dedicated a project in the oncology unit. Today, in recognition of decades of consistent and outstanding support, the Kaisers’ names are affixed on the hospital’s Platinum Founders Wall.
