Former Israeli diplomat and Israeli Supreme Court Justice, and current Touro Law professor, Elyakim Rubinstein spoke with students at The Frisch School about the Israeli legal system and making peace with Arabic neighbors. Justice Rubinstein leads a newly created Touro Law Center program exploring the Israeli legal system as a symbol of Israel’s dedication to promoting democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
“I am the only living person in Israel who participated in peace efforts with all of our neighbors. The quality of peace may not be what we would want it to be, but it exists,” he said. Frisch students had a chance to ask questions about the U.S. Embassy’s move to Jerusalem and gender roles in Israel, among other topics.
