Mindy and Muttie Stein from Teaneck to receive Presidential Leadership Award
The current dire situation in Israel has either directly or indirectly affected every Jewish citizen in the Jewish state. Each day brings with it new fear of the potential danger lurking at a street corner, on the bus, driving a car or dropping your children off at daycare. Emunah, the organization that maintains 250 social welfare and educational projects in Israel, has had to take urgent security measures to ensure the safety of the children in its 135 daycare centers and four high schools. Emunah’s 13 family and crisis counseling centers have seen a large influx of people suffering from anxiety and seeking treatment. Children in its five children’s homes are being instructed on how to practice extra vigilance and caution in school and in transit.
On Saturday night, November 14, Emunah of America friends and supporters will gather together at its Circle of Life Benefit Dinner at the Sheraton New York to recognize the accomplishments of the organization on behalf of the people in Israel, and to laud individuals who have had an impact on the lives of the children and families who benefit from Emunah’s services. Funds raised at the dinner will enable Emunah to meet the needs of the people who rely on Emunah during the current difficult climate, in addition to funding the crucial projects it operates throughout the year.
Mindy and Muttie Stein, who come from families with a history of deep involvement with Emunah, will be recognized with the Presidential Leadership Award. “I am proud to be part of the second generation that has made Israel and Emunah such a priority,” said Mindy Stein, an honorary National President of the organization. “Emunah is there every day, touching and even saving the lives of thousands of children, teenagers and adults in Emunah’s 250 programs throughout Israel. Emunah gives them a bright future and helps them become productive members of society.”
Sarah Struhl from Boca Raton and New York (formerly from Englewood, NJ) is receiving the Young Leadership Award. Sarah, a student at Stern College, spent the past five summers working with the children who live at Emunah’s Bet Elazraki Children’s Home.
Maureen and Larry Eisenberg from Los Angeles are receiving the Bonei Yerushalayim Award. They are staunch supporters of the organization, particularly of the Emunah Torah and Arts High School in Jerusalem. The Aishet Chayil Award will be given to Eva Palgon Traub. She will be recognized for decades of dedication and service to Emunah’s children in Israel.
The Benefit Dinner is being chaired by Chanie Greif and Sheryl Schainker. Karen Spitalnick serves as Emunah National President. To make reservations to the Emunah Circle of Life Benefit Dinner or for more information call 212-564-9045 ext. 303, or reserve online at emunah.org/dinner.
