Ariella Applebaum and Eli Gartenberg, both of Teaneck, NJ, are engaged and planning an August wedding.
The future kallah is the daughter of Eric Applebaum, of Teaneck, NJ and West Orange, NJ, and Sandra Applebaum of Teaneck. Ariella is a graduate of the Moriah School, Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls and Stern College. She is currently applying to medical schools.
The future chossan is the son of Michael and Miriam Gartenberg of Teaneck. Eli is a graduate of the Moriah School, Torah Academy of Bergen County and Yeshiva University. He is employed by Ohel as Social Media and Marketing Manager and in the Development office.
Ariella and Eli grew up on the same block, and their families shared many meals together. They began dating in college after meeting at a mutual friend’s birthday party (Ariella thanks Yoni Levine and Emily Kaye).
It was a routine Wednesday afternoon when Eli called Ariella and told her he would be stuck late at the office; he suggested that she should go ice skating with her sisters. As she was gliding on the ice, a special team of friends took their pre-assigned places. One group held roses and notes. The other wore matching ‘Marry me’ t-shirts. Not what she was expecting on a Wednesday evening!
