Shaina Stiefel of Englewood, New Jersey and Alter Gross, of Teaneck, New Jersey are engaged and planning a July 2017 wedding.
The future kallah is the daughter of Miriam and Marvin Stiefel of Englewood. Shaina is a graduate of The Moriah School, The Frisch School and Rutgers University. She is employed by Three Pillars Digital Media Recruiting as an office manager. She is also the team basketball coach for Yeshiva of North Jersey’s seventh and eighth grade girls and Yavneh Academy’s sixth grade girls.
The future chatan is the son of Vivian and Avrumi Gross of Teaneck. After graduating from the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey and Yeshiva University High School for boys (MTA), Alter attended Yeshivat Sha’arei Mevaseret Zion in Israel. He is a graduate of Yeshiva University and is employed by Centers Health Care in the Bronx as an audit coordinator.
Shaina and Alter began dating after being introduced by a mutual friend at a Chanukah party. This winter, Shaina and her mother went on their annual trip to New York City to admire the department store holiday window displays. Although it is a tradition she loves, this year Shaina was on a tight schedule: she had to get back for a friend’s L’Chayim. Little did she know she would be having her own as well. As Shaina and her mom were about to leave the last window at Macy’s, there was Alter. Not mere window dressing, Alter got down on one knee and proposed, surrounded by their close friends and an appreciative, clapping audience.
