Exciting New Directions at Bumbleberry

Teaneck–Chaim Kiss, a new part-owner of Bumbleberry, has some exciting plans for the future.Kiss bought a share of Bumbleberry last May. He decided to buy in because of its longevity and success, and because he thinks Bumbleberry is an amazing product.

Bumbleberry, located at 1445 Queen Anne Road in Teaneck in the middle of the Teaneck’s kosher “restaurant row,” will be taking a new direction. For instance, Kiss says that once winter rolls around, Bumbleberry will begin serving soups. Other items that may soon grace the menu at Bumbleberry according to Kiss include crepes, gourmet ices, smoothies, ice coffees, and yogurt cake.

Bumbleberry is unique because of these new offerings, Kiss says. “This is about the only yogurt store that people know of that carries these items. You don’t get crepes, yogurt cakes and smoothies,” in other yogurt stores, he added.

In addition to these new specialty products, Bumbleberry has a selection of toppings and frozen yogurts. There are low fat flavors such as cookies and cream and non-fat flavors like vanilla. The available toppings range from the typical (M&Ms, chocolate chips, rainbow and chocolate sprinkles) to the more exotic (carob chips, mangos, kiwis, and yogurt chips).

The store, in its current iteration, has little seating, with only three or four bar stools along one wall, as well as a padded window seat. With the exciting new items on the menu like crepes and soups, the plan is to add in a few more chairs as additional seating, but to remain focused on takeout.

As for his longer term goals, Kiss says that he plans to expand Bumbleberry into a chain franchise with stores in both Israel and throughout the Jewish communities of the United States.

Ben Murski, a worker at Bumbleberry since its inception a few years ago, has noticed changes too.

Since Kiss took over, he notes that there’s been “more advertising [and] more people coming in,” along with “new products [and] sales going up.”

You can grab some “FroYo” to eat at Bumbleberry for 53 cents an ounce throughout the week. Bumbleberry is open from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm Sunday through Thursday while Friday’s hours are from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm.
