Leket Israel had the pleasure of hosting a unique group in the fields yesterday. From both sides of the Atlantic ocean and across US state lines, four cousins celebrated their b’nei mitzvahs among the Zuckerman family group of 25 by volunteering with Leket picking produce for needy Israelis. For the first time, the entire extended family, including all four grandparents, came together in Israel from New Jersey, Westchester, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois and Modiin (Israel) in a joint celebration to mark these special milestones. They gleaned a remarkable 2,645 lbs. of citrus fruit (grapefruit and clementines), to benefit over 600 families in need. Leket Israel thanks the Zuckermans for marking this occasion by giving back to Israelis in need through Leket’s gleaning initiative.
