Families Experience JKHA at Chesed-Filled Open House Family Fun Day

Current and prospective families joined together to see and experience the difference at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy’s Open House Family Fun Day. The morning was themed to highlight how JKHA makes a difference in the lives of others through a variety of Chanukah chesed opportunities. In addition, programming highlighted how the school’s academic excellence makes a difference in the lives of each and every student. The building was filled with positive energy, enriching and inspiring learning activities and the bright smiling faces of children. The opportunity to give back and show hakarat hatov at the event was meaningful for current families, along with prospective families who joined from the school’s feeder communities as well as those from Bergen County, Queens, Riverdale and the Upper West Side.

The morning started off with chesed activities including food packaging for the needy with JRA (Jewish Relief Agency) where children were able to give back and make a difference. They packaged boxes with a variety of foods that will then be delivered to homebound elderly and others in need. Attendees also made Chanukah placemats for the residents of Daughters of Israel nursing home and cards for soldiers serving in the IDF.

The Open House Family Fun Day event showcased the school’s inspiring academics and dedicated teachers. Children participated in interactive activities ranging from robotics and MakerSpace creations to “Judah and the Maccabee training,” Hebrew language games and hands-on science experiments that conveyed the emphasis the school places on each child finding their own voice and reaching their full potential.

“Everyone in attendance could feel the warmth and cohesiveness of our JKHA community ” commented Allison Lyons, director of admissions and community relations. “We look forward to having prospective families return to JKHA to continue to learn more.”

In addition to gaining insight into the school, new families in attendance were excited to learn about the school’s innovative affordability and growth initiatives. JKHA invites those looking to learn more about the school or any of its initiatives to contact the school directly, by emailing Allison Lyons at [email protected].
