Family-Friendly Ski Resort Features Kosher Ski Program

Tired of schlepping tuna fish sandwiches on day trips? Do you love skiing or snowboarding in the fresh mountain air–or wish you could learn? Looking for healthy, outdoor winter fun close to home?

If you answered yes to any of these–then “Kosher Ski Day” at Montage Mountain Ski Resort is what you’ve been waiting for!

Located less than two hours drive from the George Washington Bridge in beautiful northeast Pennsylvania, the family-friendly ski resort offers 26 professionally groomed trails, from the “Bunny Hill” for beginners to “White-Lightening” for the most advanced, touted as the 2nd steepest black diamond in the Northeast with a 32° angle!

The resort is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. The brand-new rental shack provides skis, boots and poles, or a snowboard, and group lessons run every two hours divided by skill level.

A specially-designed ski-school for children 6-12 offers an extensive two-hour lesson, featuring instructors that are pre-screened and PSIA certified (Professional Ski Instructors of America). Like a regular school, children begin on level I learning the basics; how to put on their skis, how to get on and off the ski lift, and eventually will graduate the program upon concluding level VI, gaining confidence and life-long skills that will allow them to navigate the most difficult trails.

Montage Mountain also has the longest and fastest tubing trails in the region. The snow-tubing park is fun for all ages, and features 10 trails of downhill excitement that are each 800 feet long. The hill is serviced by the Magic Carpet lift which gives tubers a swift return to the top of the snow-tubing park. Snow-tubing is set to open in January.

After hours of clean, healthy fun on the slopes, relax and enjoy a delicious glatt-kosher dinner in the lodge overlooking the main ski area. An extensive buffet featuring hearty soups, fresh salads and hot meat/chicken dishes (with special menu for kids) will rejuvenate and recharge skiers – preparing them to go back out on the mountain for night skiing. All trails are equipped with LED lighting and the mountain is open to 9:00pm on weekdays, 10:00pm on weekends and holidays.

Organized by Chabad of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Kosher Ski Day will kick-off on Sunday and Monday December 21-22, and will run on Sunday, December 28, and on most Sundays during the season.

Kosher Ski Day offers tickets that are 50% off the window rates: Full-day lift: $30, with ski or board rental $45, with a group lesson $55. Ski school for children 6-12 is $60 and includes lift ticket, rentals and two-hour lesson. Dinner buffet: $18 for adults, $10 for children 6-12, 5 and under no charge. Group rates are available.

Tickets must be purchased in advance online at www.JewishNEPA.com/ski.
