On Tuesday evening, Gimmel Tammuz, a farbrengen was held at Bris Avrohom in honor of the special day of the Rebbe. The guest speaker was Rabbi Yaakov Reitzes, an emissary of the Rebbe in Yesod Hama’alah Upper Galilee, Israel since 1976. When Rabbi Reitzes moved to Israel, the town he settled in had not a single shomer Shabbos Jew. The rabbi and his wife revolutionized the town, and today, he has a full shul of families keeping Torah and mitzvos.

Rabbi Reitzes shared many personal stories involving himself and the Rebbe. He then described how one must continue living with the Rebbe today, and how to educate and inspire the young generation, many of whom have not had the privilege of ever meeting the Rebbe. The crowd was mesmerized by his stories and gained practical advice on educating the next generation.

The evening was sponsored by the Kanchik/Libson families, who sponsor this event each year in commemoration of the 30th yahrzeit of the patriarch of their family, Greg Libson, ob”m.

A full dinner was served, and Rabbi Reitzes led the farbrengen till the wee hours of the morning.

Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, who introduced the guest speaker, also made a special welcome to Lenny Kanchik, grandson of Greg Libson, who went to Israel two years ago as a lone soldier. While serving in the IDF, Lenny made sure to don tefillin daily and encouraged others in his unit to do the same as a protection for all.
