Dear Shayna,
Every year my family goes to visit my aunt’s farm for Sukkot. We can’t go this year because my aunt sold her farm. I am a little bit disappointed because I normally enjoy doing something special for one of my favorite holidays and now I can’t. What should I do to feel better?
Farming Fruma
Dear Farming Fruma,
I think that you liked going over to your aunt’s farm. I also think you like having something to look forward to. What if you had something else to look forward to? I am sure that if you had something else to be excited about you would forget about the farm. So let’s think of an idea.
How about a Sukkot party? You can have a huge party or a small party or a normal party. Every year do a different theme party and maybe watch a movie based on your theme. Or maybe ask your parents if you can take a different trip somewhere special during Chol Hamoed. What I’m suggesting is to replace your visit to your aunt’s farm with a new event. Of course, if my ideas or your ideas don’t work, you can always ask another family member to buy a farm.
Best of luck,
Shayna B.
