FC Teaneck Thunder (U16) capped the spring soccer season with a dream run to an undefeated season, securing back-to-back championships in the competitive Northern Counties Soccer Association. After clinching last year’s spring 2016 division championship, the team had stumbled to its only loss in the season’s final game. This time, the boys took care of business and made sure they would finish the season with an unblemished record.
Fielding by far the youngest roster in the division, there were concerns heading into the season whether the Thunder had the size and skills to compete with the division’s older teams. Those worries were quickly put to rest, as the team was the class of the division on both offense— scoring 47 goals, and defense—surrendering only 16. Goalie Eliav Baron’s strong season was highlighted by a 6-0 whitewash against rival Clarkstown. The high-powered offense featured Zali Tollinsky, Ben Shore, Nathan Planer, newcomers Ozzie Jeselsohn and David Martinez and youngster Aiden Einhorn. The stalwart defense was once again led by Daniel Becker, Zachary Wolf, Sam Lehrer and Menachem Kravetz, bolstered by the physical play at sweeper of new addition Erick Villareal and utility man Manny Nagel. Midfield was controlled by Gabriel Einhorn, Tuvia Levine and Eitan Dukas.
FC Teaneck is the travel club soccer division of Teaneck Junior Soccer League (TJSL) for Teaneck residents six to 18 years of age who are looking for a competitive, year-round soccer experience. It currently has 18 teams for boys and girls.
