The Fairleigh Dickinson Yeshiva and Seminary programs have been offering degree completion programs in separate men and women classes for close to 20 years. Students are able to transfer up to two years of yeshiva and seminary studies (72 credits) from Israel and/or the U.S. and take CLEP and other credit-by-exams in order to earn a regular bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, the largest private university in New Jersey.
Students can use the degree to seek employment or pursue graduate or professional studies with the assistance of the FDU Career Management Office. Of special note is the BUSI Career Management class held on Mondays from 2-5 p.m. at Yeshiva Heichal Hatorah in Teaneck. Led by Prof. Ira Jaskoll, topics include resume writing,, interview techniques, creating effective “elevator pitches,” how to deal with issues of being an Orthodox Jew in the workplace, and how to network for internships and permanent positions.
Classes are given in person and online and include Business Dynamics, Society Disaster and Disease, Public Speaking, Seminar in Leadership, Comparative Buyer Behavior, Global Issues, Accounting 1, Marketing 1, International Business, E-Commerce and Beyond, and Industrial Psychology.
All FDU Yeshiva and Seminary students receive a 50 per cent University scholarship with additional Federal Pell, N.J. State TAG scholarships and other government financial aid available to those who qualify. Students have access to all FDU facilities including the library, athletics facilities, Student Services, Hillel, and special events.
The program has a unique schedule of classes both during the semesters and during the popular bein hazmanim of Sukkot, Pesach and Av Zman. Classes are offered for 12 days when yeshiva students are on their breaks.
