MTA is a school with a storied basketball legacy, but experienced a few bumps in the road last season. Under the leadership of head coach Yosef Weinberger and assistant coach Meir Simcha Stromer, MTA has high hopes for the 2014-2015 season.
The Lions bolstered their roster with freshmen Chaim Weinstein, Rafi Houdadad, Daniel Liebsma, and Yosef Leyliev and new sophomore additions of Zach Fish and Moshe Walters. MTA is also fortunate to welcome sophmore transfer students Yehuda and Binyamin Buchbinder, each standing at 6 feet 2 inches, from Yeshivas Heichal Hatorah. The returning sophomores are Marc Giahn (PG), Aryeh Braun (SF), Tani Mayer (SG), Jonathan Gibber (SG), Aryeh Halpert (PF), Yehuda Colton (C), and Josh Klein (SF). The team has an unusually tall roster with the average height of the starters at 6 feet 5 inches.
MTA usually plays NY teams, but this year the team will also be playing many local teams Kushner, TABC, Frisch, and JEC. It is going to be a crazy season and MTA has high hopes for good reasons.
