JKHA Students Mark Yom Hazikaron Through Learning and Meaningful Progamming

Throughout JKHA, students participated in age-appropriate, meaningful programming to commemorate Yom Hazikaron.

In Lower School, second grade through fourth grade were visited by four JKHA parents who served in the IDF. The parents shared personal stories, memorabilia and pictures to help the students gain insight into the IDF and the experience and dedication of the soldiers.

Middle School students had a moving program today led by Greater MetroWest Rishon Osya, who ran a meaningful ‘tekes’ that combined the memorial siren, multimedia presentations, various tefilot, and short readings from students memorializing the fallen soldiers of the IDF. In addition, Middle School students participated with thousands of people from around the world in a coordinated effort to learn Torah in the merit of IDF soldiers who perished in the defense of Israel and victims of terror as part of the “Lekedoshim” program. The “Lekedoshim” program unites individuals and groups to complete all of Tanach, all Mishnayot, and all of Shas, Talmud Bavli in less than 24 hours on Yom Hazikaron. Middle School students participated by learning the 24th Perek of Shmuel Bet, the 4th Perek of Mishnayot of Meschet Brachot and Daf Chof Alef in Mesechet Bava Metzia. It was a beautiful way to commemorate all of the lives lost al kiddush hashem.
