Having your say in The Link

Featuring Joey Bodner

Photographed on 12-31-20 at the David Beyda Studio

On hosting a Covid Minyan:

I’m a man of action and do my best to make things happen. Bais Mickey (my backyard minyan) was a labor of love and a personal accomplishment that the minyan made a broad spectrum of participants comfortable and happy even during such a difficult time.

On favorite foods:

I’m a steak and potatoes guy but there’s always room for pizza and ice cream – Haagen Dazs dulce de leche and Carvel soft vanilla ice cream. Shh don’t tell my wife!

On backgammon:

Strategy, math skills and luck equals excitement! I live the thrill, I love the competition and enjoy that no two games are alike.

Rabbinical influences:

Rabbi Pinchus Bak z”l my late high school principal who died Purim night 1977 at the age of 32. He was a legend.

On the Yankees and the Jews:

I love them both!

Advice for success:

I approach all work using the strategy of the 6 P’s. Perfect Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Think of yourself last if you want to be successful-always look out for and take care of others first. There is no “I” in team – especially in catering, planning an event takes much more than just one person to execute.

On favorite Mitzvah:

Hachnasas Orchim.  Very proud of my home’s open door policy. Hosted many functions and Shabbatot for family, friends and even strangers. Looking forward to this plague being a thing of the past so that we can safely resume being together.
