Federation’s Bonim Builders to Move In With Jewish Home at Home

Paramus–Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, in conjunction with Jewish Home at Home, has announced that effective July 1,, the Federation volunteer program, Bonim Builders, will move from under the aegis of Jewish Federation to Jewish Home at Home, a division of the Jewish Home Family, Inc. Bonim Builders’ Project Coordinator, Stacey Orden, will continue to fill the same role in the new location, thereby ensuring a seamless transition.

Speaking of the move from one agency to the other, Federation CEO, Jason M. Shames said, “Bonim Builders was incubated under the Federation mantle and we have been proud, for many years, of the work they’ve accomplished. Bonim Builders and Jewish Home at Home are an excellent fit.”

“Jewish Home at Home is the organization charged with providing home and community-based services to support aging within the community,” said Jewish Home Family President and CEO Carol Silver Elliott. “We know that home modification can make the difference in keeping someone home and successful. We are excited to add this community service and the additional outreach opportunities this affords the Jewish Home Family and Jewish Home at Home.”

Since its founding in 2002, Bonim Builders has been dedicated to its mission of repairing the world one house at a time, and improving the quality of life for local low-income homeowners. Bonim Builders have focused their work on helping the elderly, the disabled, and the chronically-ill in our community who are no longer able to perform home repairs themselves. Similarly, Jewish Home at Home’s mission is to help seniors remain, safely, in their own homes.

Hundreds of committed Bonim Builders’ volunteers–teens and adults alike–have performed critical repairs and renovations over the last 14 years. Additionally, Bonim Builders has worked with many local non-profit agencies to benefit individuals and groups in need of help. Bonim Builders will continue to work with these agencies as they move to their new offices at Jewish Home at Home.

Bonim Builders will also continue its collaboration with Jewish Federation’s newly formed Volunteer Center which connects volunteers with meaningful volunteer opportunities in northern New Jersey and beyond. Together, Federation and Jewish Home at Home will continue to engage volunteers in an ongoing effort to provide the community with meaningful opportunities for performing mitzvot.
