On Sunday, April 22, TABC will host the fifth annual Esther Semmelman Memorial All Star Hockey Games.
The games will feature the top hockey players in their respective leagues. The middle school game begins at 10:30 a.m. and features a competition between the New York (MYJHHL) and the New Jersey (HAYMISH) teams. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 3:30 p.m. The high school games are a competition of East (Brooklyn and Long Island) vs. West (New Jersey and New York City).
A highlight of the games are the popular skills competitions between periods for hardest shot and last man standing.
The annual games are named in memory of Esther Semmelman z”l, devoted wife and the mother of Alyssa and David, who passed away in 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
Proceeds from the event will benefit i-Shine, a unique after-school program for children living with illness or loss in their homes. The Chai Lifeline program creates an environment filled with laughter and friendship where children who are dealing with challenges have the opportunity to truly shine.
General admission to the games is $5. All donations over $100 include admission for your immediate family. In addition, there are various hockey named sponsorship opportunities. For more information, please contact [email protected]. To make an online donation to i-Shine, go to tabc.org/allstarhockey. Checks made out to iShine may be mailed to Deborah Pechet, 15 Rector Court, Bergenfield, New Jersey 07621.
