The Ma’ayanot Rapids defeated the Bruriah Lighting twice in one week to stay in first place in the MYHSAL Volleyball A Western Conference. Despite a valiant effort by the Lightning, Ma’ayanot took both matches in three straight sets.
On December 26, Bruriah hosted the Rapids. Ma’ayanot jumped out to a quick lead in the first set and never looked back, winning 21-10. They took the second set 21-11, though the Lightning made things difficult for them throughout. The final set’s score was 21-18, after Bruriah launched an impressive comeback at the end, at one point scoring 10 straight points.
On January 3, the Lightning traveled to Teaneck. Thanks to a strong serving game, the Rapids easily took the first two sets 21-9 and 21-7. Once again, Bruriah tried a last minute surge in the third set, before falling 21-13.
The Rapids are now in first place in the West with a 7-1 record. The Lightning are in sixth place at 2-7.
