With the Three Weeks upon us, it is time to find alternatives to music for those who need something to listen to, and, fortunately, there are many great Jewish podcasts. Listen to them on their own, while working out or whenever the time is right. This article collects five podcasts from the networks Living Lchaim, Aish and Ohr Somayach that are perfect substitutes for songs to connect to your earbuds.
This list begins with three podcasts from Living Lchaim:
“Inspiration for the Nation”—Yaakov Langer, the founder of the network, interviews influential people in the Jewish community such as United Hatzalah founder Eli Beer, former Israeli Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, political talk show host Ben Shapiro and Israeli journalist Yael Zien producing inspiring conversations.
“Kosher Money”—Up next is a podcast by Yaakov’s brother Eli Langer who discusses finance in the Jewish community and the struggle to meet its high-cost demands. The CEO of a marketing company himself, Langer speaks with guests that provide valuable insight on money in the Jewish world. With over 8 million total views, it is the most popular Jewish podcast on YouTube, according to Living Lchaim.
“The Adventures of Zevy & Zaidy”—A podcast of Lchaim Kids, this show provides fun episodes where a boy named Zevy joins his grandfather as they go on expeditions back to various historical eras. Their travels take them to moments where they witness firsthand the survival and traditions of their Jewish ancestors.
“Feed Your Head”—Aish has produced a thought-provoking podcast that offers deep conversations with experts on topics like psychology, philosophy and theology, hosted by Rabbi Adam Jacobs. For those looking for a more intellectually intense listen, check out this podcast.
“The Q & A with Rabbi Breitowitz”—Ohr Somayach offers this question-and-answer format podcast with Rabbi Yitzchak Breitowitz, senior lecturer at the Ohr Somayach yeshiva in Jerusalem. He takes questions from an audience on halacha, hashkafa and all things Torah. His warm personality and vast knowledge make this a popular podcast. He also gives a running class on sefer Even Sheleimah of the Vilna Gaon as part of the podcast.
