Fleetwood Synagogue Hosts Prospective Members Brunch

(Courtesy of Fleetwood Synagogue) Fleetwood Synagogue opened its doors to prospective couples and families last Sunday, as it welcomed those wishing to learn more about the growing Southern Westchester community. This event boasted a scrumptious buffet of bagels, lox, pastries and fruit. Guests enjoyed the meal, mingled and schmoozed. Synagogue staff, including Head Rabbi Dr. Yosef Cohen, Assistant Rabbi Zaki Dayan and Rabbinic Intern Etan Soclof, met with prospective members. Rabbi Cohen spoke about the unique attributes that make Fleetwood “more of a big family” than a shul, including frequent community meals and an ever-present “lend a helping hand” attitude.

Guests took a tour of the shul, perused real estate listings and spoke to current members about their experiences in Fleetwood. Many lauded the convenience of being located within walking distance of the Metro-North, with a 30-minute ride to Midtown; and that guests coming from the city did not need to have a car, which is almost unheard of in Westchester. Several kosher grocery stores make deliveries to Fleetwood daily, and many other stores are located a short walk from the shul itself. Many medical students and residents have recently moved to Fleetwood for its convenient proximity to New York Medical College, Montefiore, Einstein and Westchester Medical Center.
