The long-dormant Shomrei Torah Mens Club was reinitiated this past Thursday, September 7, at Shomrei Torah’s Freddy and Inge Heiser Simcha Hall. Over 30 men and some teens (pre-teens, too) enjoyed football’s opening-night kickoff with subs, French fries, snacks and beer (age appropriate). The guys watched the Detroit Lions beat the Super Bowl champion Chiefs in a stunning upset on the big screen. Rabbi Andrew Markowitz stopped by for a sub and to deliver words of chizuk during halftime, sharing a powerful message using inspirational words from Rams coach Sean McVey, reminding everyone of the importance of a kehilah and unity. Local pre-teen Jack Chait won the 50/50 raffle, donating some of it back to tzedaka. The Mens Club is looking forward to great activities throughout the year.
