In celebration of Rosh Chodesh Shevat and the upcoming Tu B’Shevat holiday, TABC’s 11th-grade Ivrit students Zoomed with Joseph Gitler, founder and chairman of Leket Israel, Israel’s largest food distribution network for the needy. The students received a virtual tour of Leket’s logistics center and learned how Israel’s crops of fruits and vegetables make their way from farm to table. The students were blown away by how many families benefited from Leket’s services during the pandemic, and learned about the army of 37,000 volunteers and over 100 employees who dedicate themselves to providing food for nearly 175,000 Israelis per week.
