The Friendship Circle of Bergen County invites students with special needs from throughout Bergen County to enjoy its December mini-camp program from Tuesday, December 27 through Friday, December 30 at the Frisch School, 120 West Century Road in Paramus. The mini camp is for people with special needs, ages 5 through 21, and offers a variety of activities, music, games and sports, and daily field trips during the December public school break.
Sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, and until 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Registrations are accepted until December 18.
All activities are closely supervised and modified to accommodate each individual camper’s abilities, under the guidance of professional staff, who are assisted by teen volunteers, who work with the campers on a one-to-one basis. Many of the winter camp volunteers, in grades 8 through 12 also work with Friendship Circle clients throughout the year at its various programs such as Friends@Home, Teen Scene and the Hebrew school.
“Friendship Circle camp gives our campers hours of fun while providing respite for families,” said executive director Zeesy Grossbaum. “The campers also develop wonderful relationships with the volunteers, which is a delight to witness.”
Volunteer opportunities are listed on the organization’s website, www.bcfriendship.com.
