Last week, Frisch and TABC’s JV hockey teams met up in a match between the league’s top seeded teams. Going into the game Frisch was excited to have a chance at overtaking first place and avenging its only loss of the season to undefeated TABC. The two teams did not disappoint with an exciting battle between two local rivals. The first period ended with a one goal lead by Frisch off of a goal by Jason Alter, who put in a rebound from a shot at the point by Aryeh Bloom.
TABC came into the second period looking to mount a comeback, and they did by scoring two quick goals off of two-on-one breakaways. The first came from Elli Spinowitz and the second from Akiva Hain on a nice looking backhand off of an assist by Avraham Gellman. The Frisch team was not ready to take another loss to TABC so, with three minutes left, JJ Coren took a slapshot from the point scoring a power play goal to tie the game, sending the teams to overtime. In a fitting ending to an intense game, overtime ended in a 2-2 tie after several chances for both teams, as TABC preserved its first place position by one point.
