Frisch’s unique arts track and art program benefited this week from a visit from Disney film animator and director Saul Blinkoff. Saul gave an intimate art workshop to some very lucky students where he discussed his technique (and demonstrated, too); the general process by which art and design flourish; and how to evoke emotion and, ultimately, tell a story that touches people, through art. Saul also implored students to be sincere in everything they do from art to their Judaism, for that is when you find success.
The Frisch arts track includes unique initiatives such as its Artists’ Beit Midrash, a weekly program that combines textual learning of Jewish and biblical sources and inquiry-based study expressed through visual works of art.
Frisch students learned so much. Saul stayed later than he had planned to continue the fascinating lesson, answer students’ questions and sign some autographs. They’ll never look at Mickey Mouse the same way again.
