This past Sunday Frisch faced off with Heschel in the first round of the playoffs. Frisch carried a five game winning streak into the quarterfinal matchup. The winning streak was highlighted by a long home run by RJ Fischer, amazing team effort, and strong pitching performances by Jake Lebovitch, Jared Caplan, and Isaac Seelenfreund. Everything was clicking at the right time for the Cougars.
The game started in a deadlock, with both teams scoreless through two innings. Finally, in the bottom of the third, Frisch opened the scoring with a screaming RBI single off the bat of Michael Reinhart. Heschel came storming back in the next inning to tie the game at one apiece. The game was even and it seemed as if no one would break the tie. But in the fifth inning, Frisch broke through with a go-ahead, two-run double by Jared Caplan. And in the following inning, Isaac Seelenfreund hit an RBI single, adding an insurance run to increase the lead to 4-1. In the final frame, Alex Kershenbaum made a great defensive play to throw out a runner at second base to smother Heschel’s rally and secure the victory. Both sides had great pitching performances, but Frisch held on to win by the final score of 4-1. Frisch displayed a complete team effort in the win.
Frisch awaits the winner of Ramaz vs. JEC for the semifinals. Frisch looks to continue its six game winning streak and move on to the championship game. Let’s go Cougars!!
