It was a game they waited to play for a long time. Postponed for two years due to Covid, the Frisch hockey alumni played the current varsity squad. Players came from all over, some from the original team that began playing competitive high school hockey eight years ago. The alumni team donned their white jerseys while the varsity team wore red. It was unmistakably clear that both teams came to play. There was no checking for this game—except of course, when it came to siblings. The pace was fast and the quality of hockey was quite impressive.
The alumni did squeak out a victory at the end, but it was apparent by the looks on the handshake line, the mutual admiration these players had for each other was heartfelt. Hopefully, next time they won’t have to wait so long to play again.
