Frisch JV Win Big In Their Home Opener

The Frisch JV Basketball team had an unanticipated rough start to the season despite starting out 2-0 in preseason. The first game of the regular season at Heschel did not go as the team had hoped or planned. It was a blowout the first three quarters until Frisch finally woke up, going on a 21-7 run (cutting the deficit to two points) at the end of the 4th quarter. However, Heschel was just too much to handle that night with its phenomenal shooting and, in particular, its foul shooting.

With the Heschel loss, Frisch did not enter the Rubenstein Tournament in the right state of mind. Frisch lost its first game at DRS blowing a lead towards the end of the game. Following those two losses, Frisch won its next two games, first against HAFTR and then against Shaare Torah, before playing its regular season home opener.

The team knew that this home opener needed to be a statement game. And it definitely was. Frisch beat JEC 81- 39.

Right from the tip, it was not even close. Frisch went on a 13-0 run to open up the game and simply never looked back. Frisch led at halftime 51-14. The team was led by Sammy Fishman (18 pts., 8 rebounds), Isaac Laifer (12 pts., 7 steals), and Yisroel Solomon (8 pts., 6 assists). Overall it was a great team effort considering the fact that everyone on the team scored.

This was a strong home opener for the team, and the season is looking very bright for the Frisch JV Cougars, with a record of 1-1 (overall 5-2).
