Rabbi Pittinsky and his Cougar Nation Network livestreaming crew visited the set of We Need to Talk, an all-women’s sports talk show on the CBS Sports? Network. Students watched the show being taped on the set and in the control room, working with the producer, director and cameramen.
Students learned about what it takes to break into the industry, and met some famous NFL star players like Brandon Marshall? (of the Jets) and NFL broadcasters Boomer Esiason? (former Jets quarterback) and Phil Simms? (former Giants quarterback). Jamie Kaplan, who is the son of Frisch’s Mrs. Kaplan, is a statistician for CBS Sports and helped arrange the entire trip with Rabbi Pittinsky. Jamie also gave the studio tour to the Frisch contingent.
“The trip was amazing and we all got to see how a sports broadcast looks behind-the-scenes,” said Jono Katz ‘18. “What’s especially cool about this is that the Cougar Nation Network was just a kernel of an idea a year ago and it’s evolved into a real and very active club that affords us great opportunities to see real-world applications of one of our passions.”
