On Monday night, November 11, the Frisch Cougars faced off against the Kushner Cobras. Both teams came into the game undefeated, but Kushner was just coming off a big win against TABC. Both teams started off the game trading chances but it was Frisch who broke the deadlock with 8:30 remaining in the first as Elliot Eisner scored to make it 1-0. Frisch continued to lay on the pressure and just over a minute and a half later, Judah Rolnick picked up a loose ball in front and fired it past Kushner goalie Nathan Orbach for a 2-0 lead. Both teams then battled back and forth until just over a minute left in the first Ben Orbach got a partial breakaway and fired it five hole against Evan Solomon to make it 2-1.
Starting the second, Frisch came out firing and it only took them 29 seconds as Ari Baruch pinched into a play and sniped the far side corner giving Frisch a 3-1 lead. Both teams started to play with a bit more edge and that would be the story for around four and a half minutes. Then some controversy, as Rolnick was all alone in front but could not score and it leaked behind the net where Jonah Rubin tapped it in. But the refs though it was under Nathan Orbach’s pads and had blown the play dead so the score stayed 3-1. With just under six minutes to go in the second, Kushner scored again, this time off of a faceoff. Joshua Lando won the faceoff back to AJ Keiser who snapped the bouncing ball over the glove of Evan Solomon. The rest of the second both teams looked for another goal and in doing so there were a lot of odd man rushes, but both teams went to the locker room with the score still at 3-2.
Both teams came out of the locker room gunning for a goal but none would come quickly and both teams settled down. Both Even Solomon and Nathan Orbach would come up with big saves to keep the score at 3-2. With around 1:30 left in the third, Frisch had a two-on-one break and Nathan Orbach made two excellent saves to keep it a one-goal game, but that score line didn’t last long as 20 seconds later Jason Alter would sneak in Frisch’s fourth goal to give them the win with a final score of 4-2.
